2004 Outstanding Student Environmental Research Award
Muheeb Awawdeh's winning paper is entitled "The Environmental Impact of the Conservation Reserve Program in Texas County, Oklahoma." According to Muheeb's graduate Advisor Dr. Mahesh Rao, Assistant Professor of Geography, Muheeb's research provides valuable insight on important management and policy issues pertaining to the environmental benefits, particularly soil and water quality impacts of the program. Muheeb's research has challenged farmers, the USDA-Farm Service Agency, and other policy makers in Texas County to reevaluate the environmental benefit and justification of the program.
