2005 Norman N. Durham Lecture Series

David Orr has served as a professor and as Chair of the Environmental Studies Program at Oberlin College since 1990.  He was the founder and co-Director of the Meadowcreek Project from 1979-1990. Since 1989, he has served as the associate education editor for the journal Conservation Biology.  He has published over 100 articles in scientific journals, social science publications, and popular magazines, and written four books.   Since 1995, he has been an invited lecturer to over 125 universities, institutes, conferences, government agencies, colleges and non-profit groups.  In 2002, David was awarded the President’s Award from the New Jersey Partnership for Sustainability and the Bioneers Award.  In 2000, he received a Citation from the General Assembly of Connecticut in recognition of “vision, dedication, and personal passion in education promoting the principals of sustainability.”  Currently he is on sabbatical lecturing and writing his fifth book.
