2006 Sterling L. (Bud) Burks Award for Outstanding Staff Environmental Research

Dr. Todd Halihan is an Assistant Professor of Geology at Oklahoma State University.  Todd also serves as an Assistant Editor for the National Ground Water Association journal, Ground Water, and as the Secretary-Treasurer of the U.S. Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists and is the Vice-President for Research and Development for Aestus, LLC.   Todd joined Oklahoma State University in Fall 2000, after completing his Ph.D. at The University of Texas at Austin.  While at Austin, Todd spent a year in Australia working with Flinders University of South Australia and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation.  Dr. Halihan’s professional interests center in hydrogeology and hydrogeophysics.  His recent projects in hydrogeology examine methods to improving models of aquifers in complex geologic settings to improve water resource management decisions.  In hydrogeophysics, Dr. Halihan’s research on electrical resistivity imaging is allowing quantitative characterization of non-aqueous phase liquids (gasoline and solvents) to clean up spills and evaluate the efficiency of remediation techniques at sites across the country.
