2008 Student Environmental Service Award Winners
Christina Stallings, is a Master student within the ES graduate program who is advised by Dr. Lowell Caneday. Christina works for the Oklahoma Forestry Service, serves as the treasurer for the Society of Environmental Scientists, and is a full time mom. As an officer of SES, she has helped to coordinate projects at OSU with other campus organizations. The SES group sponsored a booth at the Student Union Activity Board Fair last fall, partnered with ECO-OSU to host an America Recycles Day event on campus, and hosted the retirement reception for Dr. Kimball. She coordinated the recycling day with ECO-OSU and recruited participants to sign up and enter a Campus, State, and National drawing to win prizes when they pledged to recycle. Christina has also served as Camp Director of the annual Youth Forestry and Wildlife Camp, help at Beavers Bend State Park. This week-long camp hosts 60 youth, ages 13-16, to provide education opportunities ranging from water quality to wildlife and natural resource management. Her participation in these service projects prove that she is dedicated to motivating others to adopt an environmental ethic and to advance environmental goals. |
