STERLING L. (BUD) BURKS AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH


This award is given to an OSU environmental faculty member who demonstrates outstanding accomplishment in environmental research.

 

1.   Eligibility: Any OSU faculty member who is actively engaged in environmental research.

 

2.   Criteria for Selection: Demonstrated success in receiving funded environmental research grants, peer-reviewed publications, and student support.

a  Number of research grants and total grant amount (25%)

b.   Number of peer-reviewed publications and/or presentations (25%)

c.   Importance of contribution to a body of knowledge and to society (30%)

d  Service to professional discipline (10%)

e  Number of students supported and/or involved on research grants (10%)

3.   Application packet must include:

a.   Letters of nomination from 2 peers that describes the impact of the nominee’s environmental research in the academic and external communities

b.   A 2-3 page statement by the nominee that describes his or her research program, its contributions to the environmental field, and how it has helped advance student research

c.   A current curriculum vita

d.   Photo (headshot, 300 dpi, electronic submission version)

4.   Deadline for receipt of nomination is December 15, 2008 and application packet is January 1, 2009
