NORMAN N. DURHAM LECTURESHIP AWARD

The Norman Durham Lectureship is given to a distinguished speaker who can attract and inspire students to undertake environmentally responsible action in their own lives and careers. The speaker must be willing to present a 90-minute lecture to the university community and follow that with a 20-minute awards reception speech. The speaker should be dynamic, compelling, entertaining, engaging, and motivational. The award winner will be presented with an engraved glass trophy, an honorarium, and compensation for travel. His or her name will also be permanently displayed on a lectureship plaque.

1. Eligibility: Any distinguished environmental speaker.

2. Criteria for Selection: Dynamic, compelling, entertaining, engaging, and motivational speaker who can appeal to a large audience.

a. Appropriateness of lecture topic to Earth week (25%)

b. Popularity and attractiveness to the university community (25%)

c. Ability to inspire and motivate environmentally appropriate behavior (25%)

d. Potential to deliver an enjoyable and memorable lecture (25%)

3. Deadline for Selection: November in the preceding year.
